Approximately 45 percent of the American population snores irregularly. However, there are also an approximate 80 percent of couples who sleep in separate rooms all because of snoring. Have you ever imagined a couple having a divorce due to snoring problem? That could really be terrible.
Really, snoring problems do not just stress the relationship of partners, the problem is also applicable to all sorts of people being struck by it, for instance a beautiful maiden despite of her beauty will really look awful in her sleep if she will produce irritating loud snores.
Do you think the prince who kissed sleeping beauty will be tempted to kiss her if she had a piercing snore? Surely, you too would doubt it.
But think of this, the social consequences brought by snoring are not that funny. A simple snore might eventually lead to sleep apnea, a disorder in sleeping where a person stops breathing for about 60 seconds, a life-threatening disease. Therefore, simple snoring should not be ignored.
Not that alone, according to recent researches snoring can also lead to diabetes. This is because snoring lessens the amount of oxygen intake, thus, the body is activated to produce more catecholamines, which could also lead to the known symptom of diabetes, insulin resistance.
Now, before we proceed to the possible treatments of snoring, it will be more effective if we will trace the root of snoring first.
Have you ever questioned yourself or other people on why do people snore?
When we are asleep, the air passes through our nose, throat and lungs naturally, noiselessly and unimpeded. Though, for millions of people, a disruption in the flow of air naturally occurs. Several reasons for this are a clogged nose, or maybe, the bottom of the tongue is hampering the breathing.
The usual reason for snoring is caused by the soft tissue in the throat or upper palate which vibrates. When the airway is blocked as it passes to the lungs, troubles come in. Basically, loud snoring is a product of the air that passes through the narrow tissue.
Now, we will attempt to answer your question, how will you stop this snoring?
Honestly, there is no specific universal answer for this, but do not get disheartened, several solutions were made to exist to help people who are suffering from this predicament, probably, like yours.
Practically, let’s focus on your lifestyle and how it will worsen your snoring, likewise, how it will cure the same problem.
Excessive eating, excessive drinking of alcohol and too much intake of cigarettes can make snoring worse. Now, the so-called “conservative therapy” of the doctors which directly pertains to the change in lifestyle, is a good primary step to cure snoring before attempting other harsh and extreme treatments, such as surgery.
A healthy lifestyle to prevent snoring is to:
• Avoid large meals before sleeping, have at least three hours rest after taking your last meal.
• Maintain a healthy balanced diet to keep your weight in accordance with your age, height and body type.
• Conduct a regular physical exercise to burn excess fats.
• If you are prone to allergies, lessen bedroom allergens to avoid nasal mustiness.
• Avoid sleeping with open windows.
• Sleep on your side.
• Avoid overtiredness and set up a normal sleeping pattern.

Simple Snoring Remedy
Sleep is a condition where an individual’s consciousness temporarily ceases. It is where that the fatigue you have gone through the day will shift into tranquility. It is where you may feel temporary relief or momentary peace.
The presence of a snore however, will change the true essence of sleep – to cater rest. It is more destructive to your sleeping partner if you happen to snore or the other way around.
To experience the real purpose of sleep, you have to combat snoring. The most important thing to do is have a careful look on your lifestyle.
Are you living a healthy lifestyle? Keep in mind that you are within the parameter of a healthy lifestyle by having a closer look into the following:
? You follow and maintain the proper diet suited for you. It is best to eat a variety of foods and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid fatty cuts of meat products, saturated fats, and foods which contains high amount of sugar. Go easy with shellfish, milk, egg yolks, nuts, breads, and homemade snacks with unsaturated oil. Eat with utmost freedom lean cuts of meat products, low-fat milk and milk products, egg whites, most breads, fresh fruits and vegetables. While milk is recommended, it is suggested that you try to trim down your milk intake to prevent mucus from clogging your nasal and throat passages. Furthermore, avoidance of foods rich in caffeine is a good start to cut your snoring problems.
? Apart from a proper diet, you should also look into your eating patterns. Make sure to properly chew and swallow the foods you eat for easier digestion. Once food is properly digested, you are more likely to prevent snoring. Sleeping with a full stomach triggers snoring.
? If you allot appropriate time for exercise then you give way to curing your snoring. Make it a habit to exercise at least three times a week. You can start with the most common form of exercise – walking. If you have the means to enroll in an exercise program in a gym, then you can do so. Your exercises regime can be well-monitored in an exercise program.
Studies show that doing exercises is one of the many snoring remedies; this is most factual to obese people since losing unwanted fats will most likely give them the good and undisturbed sleep they need.
? Avoidance of cigarette and alcoholic drinks is another parameter to a healthy lifestyle so your snoring problem will be remedied. Cigarette causes obstruction to the air passage which can make your breathing difficult, which later on increases the possibility to snore. Alcoholic drinks, on the other hand have the capability to loosen your muscles, including the muscles in your throat which heightens snoring.
? Do not ignore your need to have sufficient rest. Snoring is most common to people who have inadequate rest yet involved in rigorous activities. Make sure to sleep well. It does not have to be a complete eight-hour sleep, just make it a point that you wake up well-rested. In addition, it is recommended that you begin to be seriously creating your own sleeping pattern. Ask yourself – can I sleep better with lights off or on? Is my sleep worthy if I sleep with music playing? You are more likely to achieve a non-snoring sleep environment by having your own sleeping pattern.
Sleep is a necessity. Hence, we should eliminate any sleep obstruction such as snoring, for you to be able to get the sleep you ought to have. Start with a healthy lifestyle.

We can’t say exactly what sleep is. We do know we need it to survive. Sleep restores us. Those who sleep six hours or less a night do not live to as old of an age, as people who sleep seven hours or more. There are many people out there losing precious hours of sleep ever night from their spouse snoring at a loud and annoying level.
There are many side effects from lacking sleep besides having you bleary-eyed, clutching a Starbucks cup and dozing off at afternoon meetings. Lack of sleep also puts us at a higher risk for a variety of major illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity, showed in recent studies.
Many people say their spouse’s snoring plays the major role in the sleep they lose every night. Bed mates of snorers lose an average of 2.5 hour of sleep per night and wake up as often as 21 times per hour. Being awakened by your partner’s snoring is called spousal arousal syndrome.
Your best bet is to talk with your spouse about the snoring problem. If the problem is not acknowledged, it will not be solved. If snoring is the only cause of your spousal arousal syndrome, then your problem can be solved very easily. Snoring does not have to keep you or your spouse up at night.
We all can stop snoring once and for all with simple exercises that can tone and firm the weak muscles in the throat, which makes us snore. If you are the one snoring and keeping your spouse up, you owe it to them and stop snoring, and let them get the sleep they so much are in need of.

Many people experiencing sleep problems just want to get some sleep fast! But the causes of insomnia are complex and vary by each person. Several of the successful behavioral treatments for insomnia are time-intensive and require a lot of work by the person experiencing insomnia. The thought of a pill that can solve the problem quickly is very appealing. Unfortunately, sleep medications don’t cure insomnia, and they can often exacerbate the problem over the long term.
Other concerns about the use of both over-the-counter and prescription sleeping pills include:
* development of drug tolerance
* development of drug dependence
* physical side effects
* interactions with other drugs or chemicals in the body
* withdrawal symptoms
* rebound insomnia
If you want to take medications to help you sleep because you are suffering from pain, are traveling, or just need to get some sleep, pay attention to the type of medication you choose and try to use the medication only when you really need it. If you also commit to making your sleep habits and sleep environment more conducive to sleep, you can limit the effects of insomnia on your life.
You can walk into a drugstore and choose from an array of sleep aids that do not require a prescription. The main ingredient of over-the-counter sleeping pills is an antihistamine. Antihistamines are generally taken for allergies, but also make you feel very sleepy. Common over-the-counter sleep medications are Sleep-Eze, Sominex, Nytol, and Unison; they contain antihistamines such as diphenhydramine hydrochloride, diphenhydramine citrate, or doxylamine succinate.
In general, over-the-counter sleep medications are not a good option since they’re not intended for long-term use. They can also interfere with mental alertness during the day, so you should avoid driving and other similar tasks. And sleep medications can actually reduce the quality of your sleep by reducing time you spend in deep sleep.
If you must use over-the-counter sleep medications, make sure it’s only for transient or short-term cases of insomnia and in conjunction with changes to your sleeping habits. Be sure to pay attention to your body’s physical response to these sleep medications. Immediately discontinue use if you experience any severe adverse effects.
Common side effects of over-the-counter sleeping pills include drowsiness the following day, dizziness, lack of coordination, forgetfulness, constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision, and dry mouth and throat
It is also easy to develop a tolerance for over-the-counter sleep aids after using them for just a few days. You may find quickly that you need a higher dosage to accomplish the same effect. As with any medication, it is advisable to consult with your doctor before taking over-the-counter sleep medications.
There are so many other ways to get a good nights sleep that are better than taking sleeping pills. Jeff Farley’s book Stop Insomnia offers some great advice.

Make sense of Snoring
Snoring is often regarded as little more than a joke or nuisance, however snoring affects millions of people worldwide and research has shown how devastating Snoring can be, not only to the health of the snorer but to the lives of those around them.
Snoring occurs when the air does not flow smoothly through the nose and throat passages, the soft tissue at the back of the throat vibrates causing the sound we all know as snoring.
Over one million Britons suffer from the condition. However, sleep apnoea is more dangerous than snoring because it alters normal breathing patterns. Obese people tend to be more at risk because of the muscles at the back of their throat tend to be weaker, but the condition also affects people of a normal weight and can run in families.
While asleep, sufferers may stop breathing for ten to twenty five seconds at a time, depleting the bloodstream and brain of vital oxygen supplies. In one single night sufferers may experience up to 350 “apnoeic events” and usually wake up sweaty ,with a dry mouth and a headache. The frequent interruption of deep sleep leads to daytime excessive fatigue and sleepiness. It can cause people to fall asleep during the day and can be deadly if someone dozes off while driving or operating machinery. It can also raise the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack or stroke.
Until now sufferers had to be referred to a specialist sleep clinic where they would have to stay overnight and be tested at a huge financial cost. But now a simple over the counter device can detect if you are a simple snorer or a snorer with sleep apnoea. The new device known as SleepStrip, records respiratory events and breaks in breathing. Three tiny sensors are able to detect the breathing rate of a person wearing the device, and this information is recorded on a tiny microchip to be read by sleep scientists.
The SleepStrip is sent away by post for analysis. If breathing is seen to stop for ten or more seconds at a time, sleep apnoea could be the cause and the patient is referred to a specialist for treatment. Symptoms can be cured by a machine called CPAP. It forces air into the mouth through a mask and keeps airways clear.
Dr David Dawson, consultant anaesthetist and specialist in sleep disordered breathing at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust say’s “Snoring is not only a cause of considerable domestic strife, but can also be the symptom of a more serious condition.
Some websites have the Sleepstrip on sale at £49.99 but if you email info@snoresense.co.uk and quote Ref: GB1 you can purchase it for £29.99 which includes analysis and expert advice on treatment.

Sleeping is meant for the body and mind to rest. A properly rested body and mind can give you optimum performance for the activities of the following day.
The correct posture while standing is to keep your spine straight as comfortable as you can. Don’t overdo it as it will put some stress in your spinal column and skeletal muscles. Your weight should be evenly distributed to your two legs.Your shoulders should be relaxed.
Lying down however does not only involve the relaxation of your muscles. The bed or whatever you are lying on to is a big factor in giving your body the rest it needs when sleeping.
Suppose you are lying on the floor or any hard surface like wood. When you are lying on your back the pressure points are on your buttocks, shoulders, head and your legs. Some parts of your back are subject to minute pressure like the small of your back and neck. Different parts of your back is subject to uneven pressure which means that those receiving less pressure will have the tendency to sag to the floor putting stress to your spine and skeletal muscles. The same is true when you are lying on your side.
A bed with a mattress can correct this situation but not all mattresses can give your body all the comfort it needs for a restful sleep. If the mattress is too soft, it will give way to the weight of your body. Since our weight is not evenly distributed to all parts of our body when lying down, some parts of your body will be lower than the other parts putting strain to your spinal column and skeletal muscles.
On the other hand if the mattress is too firm, it would near make it only a little better than a hard surface.
With the availability of materials and technology, mattress manufacturers have come up with the right mix of firmness and softness.
When choosing a mattress for your bed, choose the one which is firm enough and soft enough to support your weight. For example when your are lying on your back, the mattress should give way to the heavier parts of your body like the hip area.
Another good product to consider are the air mattress beds. They are designed to keep your body with an even pressure on different parts of your body as much as possible. They are inflatable using an electric air pump and the air pressure can be adjusted to your body weight and comfort.
Brands like Comfortaire and AeroBed are good to consider because the make quality air bed mattresses. Comfortaire products are designed for indoor use and as a replacement for your regular bed while AeroBed products are designed for both indoor and outdoor. They employ different technologies but they both give your body a nice comfortable and restful sleep.
A restful sleep is important for our body. Consider choosing a mattress that can give you the proper body support. A truly rested body can mean a productive life the next day.

Whatever the reason for your chronic, continuous snoring, be it that you’re getting older, drunker or fatter, you’re probably getting on your bedmate’s nerves, not to mention wiping out any chance they have for a good night’s sleep. Trust me. Now, I’m not talking about the occasional ‘mild’ snoring that you do when you sleep in a certain position, or when you have a cold – we all do it. My dog snores. Babies snore. I’m talking about those loud, intolerable, ground shaking snuffelupagus snores that just won’t quit, minute after minute, night after night.
I read somewhere that sleep partners of heavy snorers awaken over twenty times per hour. Holy sleep deprivation, Batman! Do yourself and your slumber buddy a favor and take care of it.
First, you need to rule out sleep apnea. If your partner notices that while you are asleep you literally stop breathing for, like 10 seconds or more at a time, or you wake up *super tired* and you’re excessively sleepy during the day, then you could have sleep apnea. It’s a life-threatening condition and you probably don’t even know you have it. It needs to be diagnosed by a doctor or a sleep specialist. Make an appointment with an ENT, an otolaryngologist (say that 3 times fast) or sleep clinic. Do it right away.
Plain old snoring, not to be confused with sleep apnea, is characterized by loud breathing sounds, dry mouth when you wake up, no excessive sleepiness during the day and no cessation of breath while you are snoring. It happens when the tissue at the back of your throat vibrates because you either have too much tissue or you have jiggly tissue that vibrates easily. It can also happen when your tongue obstructs your respiration. If you’re single, then you might not even know you snore. However, if you don’t feel rested when you wake up, it could be the result of nighttime snoring. Maybe you should video tape or audio tape yourself in bed…sleeping. That’s always fun.
The reason you snore may not be your fault but it is still completely annoying. You may have been born with a narrow throat or developed a narrow throat around middle-age. Men generally have more narrow air passages than women, so you have that going for you if you’re a guy. Or maybe you have chronic allergies, or sinus infections. Been there. But when it comes to things that you have control over, like how much you drink or smoke (okay, maybe you don’t have control over those), or how fat and/or out of shape you are, or if you sleep on your back, then you might try controlling those things. You’ll realize general health benefits and probably see an end to your snoring condition. When my guy Todd gets just a few pounds overweight, there he goes. Snores like a freight train until he loses the weight.
If you can’t stop getting older, or stop drinking, smoking, having infections, being male, being fat or lumpy, or sleeping in the wrong position, then I suggest you consider the following:
1. Get a special snore-no-more anti-snoring pillow designed to support and position your head correctly.
2. Get a simple snoring device for inside your mouth, like the Snore Wizard.
3. Try sleeping without a pillow at all. Ummm…yeah.
4. Attach something bulky and uncomfortable to your back. It will train you to sleep on your side if you are a chronic back sleeper.
5. Elevate the head of your bed by four or so inches. It supposedly makes your tongue and jaw move forward.
6. Skip that second martini and lay off the ice cream before bed. Both alcohol and high-fat dairy/soy products can cause problems. Alcohol, because it relaxes your airways; and dairy because it creates mucus in your throat.
7. Blow your nose. Boogers are not your friend. If you’re really stuffed up then try some nasal strips, but avoid antihistamines because they relax your throat muscles.
8. Consult your doctor to see if you are a candidate for surgery or a CPAP device (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure). A CPAP forces air into your mouth through a mask and makes you breath.
I’m sorry you snore, but see, there are things you can do about it. Or, if you are the victim of a snorer, then print this article, highlight the headline and leave it on your partner’s pillow.
Let’s make this a better world, people, one night at a time.

Have you ever woken up in the morning feeling tired and agitated? If so, then you might be one of millions of Americans who experience poor quality sleep. In today’s hectic society it is difficult to get good quality sleep let alone to get the right amount of sleep. So if you only have those six or seven short hours to devote to sleep, you should invest the time in creating the perfect sleep environment.
There are many different reasons why a person might be experiencing difficulty sleeping. The first reason is the environment. It is very important to create a comfortable environment in your bedroom. Creating a comfortable environment begins with setting the right room temperature. You do not want your room to be too hot or too cold. It is also important to be aware of your sleep preferences. Some people fall asleep faster when they have soothing music playing in the background, while others prefer complete and utter silence. Some experts also state that it is not a good idea to have a television in the bedroom; however, if you decide you need a television in your bedroom then make sure that it is turned off at least one hour before you go to sleep.
Another important part of getting a good night’s sleep is a clear mind. When you start to feel sleepy you slowly become less and less alert. So if you are hungry, worried or agitated by something you will have a harder time relaxing and falling asleep. Some people also believe in old remedies and herbal supplements as a means of relaxation before bed. A glass of warm milk is said to contain a sleep-inducing chemical called tryptophan and chamomile tea is said to promote calm and relieve anxiety before bed time. So the next time you are having a hard time falling asleep, make a cup of chamomile tea and consider how some of these simple tips can help you obtain a good night’s sleep.

As we all know different sleeping positions can equal different types of snoring patterns and symptoms.
For most snorers, snoring occurs while sleeping on their back. Some may only snore while on their backs while other may snore while sleeping in any position. Snoring Cures What Can I do To Help?
finding the perfect snoring cure is tough. One of the main reasons for that is everyone is different so you must treat it as such. Hopefully this article will find a cure that works for you.
People who snore can be funny but when you get to sleep with someone who snores loudly every night, it becomes annoying. That is why, it is important to know the ways to cure snoring.
Here are the following ways and methods to cure snoring:
Breathing exercise Snoring happens when there is a blockage happening in the breathing passage, particularly at the throat area. And this blockage might be because of a tensed throat, wrong positioned jaw, or stuffed nose. Take several deep breaths in order to relax the throat and make breathing normal again.
Decongestants There are instances wherein the cause of snoring is nasal congestion. Here, the person tends to breathe through his mouth which may trigger snoring. Taking decongestants will free any blockage and relieve the person from snoring.
Anti-allergy medications There are some allergies that result to the enlargement of adenoids. Once the allergy is cured, the snoring usually stops.
Exercise and proper diet If the person is obese, he probably snores. This is because there is fat concentration on the airways that limits the air to go in and out freely. Also, fat formation on the stomach restricts the diaphragm to perform properly. Thus, snoring occurs. In fact, around 40% of the obese population snores. Taking regular exercise and proper diet can reduce the weigh and stop snoring, not to mention other health risks associated with obesity.
Change of bed position There are occasions wherein snoring is the result of wrong sleeping position. Sometimes, sleeping with too many pillows can stretch and narrow the air passage. Use one pillow to avoid it. Also, lying on the back can cause snoring. So, a change in sleeping position can be a good help.
Change of lifestyle Smoking and alcohol can contribute to the onset of snoring. Snoring may be a result of other medical conditions caused by these two. So, to maintain a good and healthy life, the person should stop or reduce smoking and alcohol intake, which in turn can cure snoring.
Review medications Antihistamines, sleeping pills, and other types of medications can worsen snoring.
Regular sleeping habits There are two periods of sleep: the REM sleep where the person experiences frequent dreaming and deep sleep, and the Stage 1 sleep which should only be experienced during falling asleep but can also be experienced several times if the person is sleeping poorly. Both can trigger the development of unstable breathing that can cause snoring. Irregular sleeping can also cause respiratory instability that result to unstable breathing during sleep.
Saltwater nasal droops Nasal congestion caused by mucus can disrupt sleep and can cause snoring. To prevent this, saltwater nasal drops can be used to flush out the mucus. There are over the counter saltwater nasal drops available in drugstores. However, you can also make it on your own. Dissolve ¼ teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of sterilized water. Let the water cool down to body temperature and place it to a nose dropper.
However, if snoring is caused by other serious condition such as sleep apnea and enlargement of adenoids and/or tonsils, some surgical procedures like Laser Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty (LAUP) and radio frequency tissue ablation (RFTA) or Somnoplasty can be applied. It is important therefore to know the exact cause of snoring before taking any action.

We all need sleep. No matter your age you need to sleep, some more than others. When we sleep our bodies regenerate cells. Most of the human body healing process occurs when we are asleep getting rest. When we are asleep we also regenerate muscle tissue.
Not enough sleep causes a decrease in performance and concentration. When someone is lacking the rest that the body and mind needs, their reaction time can be much slower than someone with a full nights rest, and learning of new information can be near impossible. There is much great chance of accidents or injuries to occur. Memory lost is a big side affect along with mood swings and behavioural problems. Most of the problems can be resolved as soon as the human body gets the proper rest.
If we miss out on sleep night after night we build up what is called “sleep debt”. Sleep debt can cause a huge decrease in your day time performance and your work can be greatly affected. Some causes of lack of sleep are stress, anxiety. Loud sleep environments. Not the right temperature. Some people prefer a cool place to sleep some rather a warm place. Studies have link lack of sleep with weight gain and psychiatric disorders.
If you share a bed with a person that snores there is a good chance you are not getting adequate sleep. Someone else snoring can keep you up all night which makes it hard on your body the next day. If they keep snoring night after night and your sleep debt keeps building up time and time again, you are putting yourself and everyone around you at risk.
There are simple affective ways to battle your lack of sleep due to some snoring next to you. All you need to do is get the snorer follow some simple exercises. You being kept awake by someone else’s snoring can now be a thing of the past.
Is someone snoring keeping you awake, or have you been cured or know someone that has cured there snoring? come by this weekly updated blog and read or leave a story. http://naturallystopsnoring.blogspot.com/

Although males snore more than females by an average of 15%, all people snore. If you’re overweight, stressed out, or gaining in years, you’ll snore, though it’s harmless, generally. You will be the butt of jokes, however, it you snore too loudly.
Tonsillitis, breathing disorders, sinusitis, obesity, hay fever, and the common cold are typical causes of snoring. Other causes are aging, alcohol intake, viral infections, and a few medications. The sleeping position is also a cause for snoring.
Soft tissues gravitate backwards when you sleep on your back. The airway is constricted and airflow is restricted, causing a person to snore more loudly.
A narrow throat or a large tongue triggers snoring, as well as smoking. You must not ignore the fact that you snore in frightening stops and starts. Address your snoring to the doctor right away.
Practical Snoring Remedies
Snoring deprives you of sleep and does not only wake other people. You are left stressed with a headache in the morning as you end up waking up and gasping for air.
To stop snoring, use these easy treatments:
* Provide your head a better angle with a position, or sleep on your side.
* Shed weight.
* Stop imbibing alcohol and smoking.
* Try an over-the-counter nasal strip to widen your nostrils.
* When sleeping, wear clothes that are comfortable.
If you are sleeping by your lonesome, have a tennis ball sewn to the back of your night clothes. Because the ball on your back will be uncomfortable, you’ll be reminded to sleep on your side. If these easy remedies don’t help, have a family member to observe your snoring so you can figure out if you need the help of sleep specialists.
See a Doctor
Seek medical attention if you snore unusually loudly every night. How long you are not breathing can be determined with a sleep study in the hospital.
Snoring in children is not common. If your child has ADHD, daytime fatigue, high blood pressure, poor school performance, learning difficulties, and wets his bed, have him assessed for sleep apnea.
Treatments
There are various treatments for different sleeping disorders:
* Surgery to alter a deviated septum or enlarged tonsils.
* Stiffening the palate by palatoplasty surgery or injection.
* Wearing a CPAP mask during sleep.
* Stopping a large tongue from blocking the air passage with dental applications.

Although to a lot of people snoring is nothing more than a harmless and humorous part of sleeping, for the victim it can be a very embarrassing and even traumatic problem that can affect every aspect of their life. These are just some of the problems related to snoring.
Relationships:
The strain snoring puts on existing relationships is enough, but what happens when a new love interest stays over for the first night? – Utter embarrassment. Maybe you’ll even shy away from reaching that point.
Holidays or Trips:
Sufferers of snoring are more likely to pass on the chance of going on holiday because of the embarrassment. Imagine keeping the whole family awake because of your loud night time noises. What happens if you fall asleep on the plane and everyone in the vicinity can hear you?
Lack of Sleep:
To put it simply, snoring can deny you or a partner the right and need for a goodnight sleep. If we don’t sleep, we get irritable and not a very nice person to be around. Times this by a ten year relationship and you could be filing for divorce.
Poor Productivity:
Being tired and sluggish has a strong effect on your work and productivity. The brain does not function properly when exhausted so you will easily be distracted and may fall behind important deadlines. Imagine missing a promotion or making a devastating business decision because you snore and had several sleepless nights.
Higher Risk of Accidents: Falling asleep at the wheel, getting caught in a machine, not listening to instructions – the list goes on. Being tired because of snoring puts you at a much higher risk of having an accident in everyday life or at work.
Unfortunately there aren’t many cures out there for people that snore; which tackle all possible causes, are comfortable and don’t require surgery until now. Just recently on the market is a revolutionary series of exercises that train muscles in the jaw and throat in order to strengthen the airways. This is successful because snoring is almost always caused by a closure of the throat or because of a blockage. Training these muscles keep the airways clear, even for the overweight, which may have more fat deposits around the throat.
Snoring is something you can’t live with forever and taking action is vital for a better quality of live. Whatever route you take make sure it is an informed one.

Because it is such a common problem, there are actually so many people who are on the lookout for stop snoring home remedies. But if you are one of these people, you have to understand the problem first before you determine the appropriate solution for it. Snoring is actually a dysfunction that is primarily caused by the human body’s very own mechanism. The muscles that are found in your soft palate, tongue, and throat begin to relax when you are sleeping quite deeply already. And when this happens, your airways are partially closed. Once these muscles become too relaxed, the airway then becomes obstructed, leading to the incessant vibration of the air, in the form of snoring.
Fortunately, there are a lot of easy stop snoring home remedies that you can try. Whether these remedies are for your own condition, or for that of another member in your family, it would really pay to keep these in mind. The first of these remedies is regular exercise. It is very important to exercise regularly because this tones your body, as well as your breathing muscles. Congestion, especially in the upper portion of your respiratory tract, can then be prevented. What’s more, your lung capacity can also become stronger, thus improving your cardiovascular system. However, it is important to remember not to do strenuous exercises before you go to bed. This will only make you too tired, which will lead you right into a deep slumber, and snoring just might set in for you.
Weight loss is also one of the important stop snoring home remedies. This is because weight loss actually contributes to the condition in the first place. Excessive weight in your neck and chest can cause enough pressure on your muscles. This, in turn, disrupts the normal breathing process. Thus, if you are overweight, then you should consider taking on a diet plan. Just make sure yours is prescribed by a licensed physician, dietician, or nutritionist. Generally, a diet plan would also have you take on a more active lifestyle.
But when you are a smoker or an alcoholic, then you should avoid these substances. These actually worsen snoring. Smoking causes changes in the tissue walls that can be found in your respiratory system. When this happens, your air passage can very well be blocked. Alcohol, on the other hand, is considered a depressant of your central nervous system. When you take in alcohol, the substance intoxicates your system, to the point that heavy sleep is induced, and snoring is the only logical step afterwards. Avoiding alcohol and nicotine are definitely effective stop snoring home remedies.

Snoring is a surprisingly common problem. Everyone snores at some time to a lesser or greater degree and even animals can snore in their sleep. In some cases it is nothing to worry about and may simply be a result of overindulging in alcohol or incorrect sleeping posture. In other cases it is an indication of a more serious problem, and may lead on to serious medical problems, not to mention being kicked out of bed every night so your partner can get some sleep.
The cause of snoring is reasonably well known. The airway is narrowed and the snoring sound is produced(mostly due to vibration of loose tissue in the rear of the throat). This article doesn’t spend much time on that, but rather addresses ‘the causes of the cause’ as suggesting widening your airways as a solution to snoring does not really help anyone. Understanding what causes the airway to narrow in the first place is much more useful in looking for solutions to your snoring problem and consequently improving your health, your sleep and in all likelihood your relationship.
There are a number of causes which are beyond our control. These include:
-
Genetics – Snoring can be genetic, namingly you can inherit a narrower than normal throat which will increase the likelihood of snoring.
-
Age – Age will often decrease the muscle tone in your neck and consequently narrow your throat. Generally being middle aged or older is likely to increase your chances of a snoring problem.
-
Gender – Sorry – but if you are a man you are more likely to snore. Men naturally have narrower air passages.
-
Allergies – Including colds, sinus infections and asthmatics. All of these cause breathing problems which will block the nasal airway and make breathing more difficult. The resulting vacuum in your throat leads to noisy breathing.
There is very little that can be done about any of these situations, although generally staying in good shape and health will lead to a better muscletone around the neck and throat and minimize the effects of a smaller air passage.
There are a number of other identified causes that do fall within out area of control:
-
Control your weight and shape – Any excess weight and any fatty tissue around the neck will lead to a narrower air way. Poor muscle tone is more likely to mean relaxed muscles, and overly relaxed throat muscles are likely to result on snoring.
-
Smoking – Being a smoker, or living with smokers and inhaling a large amount of second hand smoke both relaxes muscles and creates congestion in the lungs and nasal passage.
-
Alcohol and Drugs – Excessive drinking and use of some drugs can result in relaxation of the throat and tongue muscles, making snoring more common.
-
Watch Your Sleeping Posture – Sleeping on your back is more likely to relax the throat, block the airways and result in snoring.
These factors are important to understand, because by seeing what causes the problem, the solution will tend to present itself.

If you are an insomniac, there are three insomnia solutions you can do right away that will help you. No matter what other factors might be causing your poor sleep, you can do these things immediately and have an excellent chance of helping your sleep.
The three things: Reduce caffeine, limit alcohol, and eliminate smoking.
We know how difficult this can be, so we are not going to insist that everyone do it. Instead, we want you to investigate for yourself the effects of these three things on you.
In this article we will focus on reducing caffeine.
Insomnia Solutions: Reduce Caffeine
Research presented at the 1995 meeting of the Association of Professional Sleep Societies by Dr. Michael Bonnet, a researcher with the Dayton VA Hospital in Ohio, indicates that patients with insomnia typically have a 9 percent higher metabolic rate during both day and night than people who do not have insomnia.
Even though many insomniac patients feel lethargic and slowed down, their bodies act as if they are “hyped up.” When the metabolism of normal sleepers is increased to the same level by their drinking about four cups of normal coffee, the normal sleepers too experience insomnia. The message-most patients with insomnia are hyper aroused anyway, and adding coffee makes this condition worse. (Paradoxically, hyperactive children are often helped by caffeine.)
Caffeine and similar stimulants can cause many more problems than most people realize, and too much caffeine may be a factor in your insomnia. Often, insomniacs are so exceptionally sensitive to this stimulant that they may be unable to sleep after one cup of tea or a chocolate bar in the afternoon.
One study showed that patients who had caffeine-induced wakefulness cleared caffeine more slowly from their bodies. The concentration of caffeine in their blood was higher at midnight- eight hours after afternoon coffee-than it was in other people. Also, sensitivity to caffeine can increase with age. Even if you have had coffee, tea, or cola drinks in late afternoon or in the evening in the past with no trouble, they can start contributing to poor sleep as you get older.
Consuming more than 200 mg of caffeine a day (two cups of coffee, two or three colas, or several caffeine-containing pain tablets) is likely to affect sleep and create the danger of caffeine addiction. In some people, it takes much less–one cup of coffee at lunch or one cola in the afternoon.
So surefire insomnia solutions include reducing caffeine intake.
