This product is not what I expected.

I thought this was a device to open my nostrils by pushing from the inside. I have used the breath easy strips that do the same thing by sticking to your skin and opening up the nostril from the outside. The external breath-easy strip worked fantastically well but irritated my skin. I got a good nights sleep but walked around like Rudolf the reindeer the next day.

This product doesn't do anything similar.

What it does is pinches your nasal septum. It does NOT open up your airway.

Apparantly it is supposed to activate a reflex that causes the fleshy tissue on your nasal turbinates to take up less space. Sure, nice idea. I faithfully tried it.

It doesn't work. Too bad.

I know I should probably be using a CPAP machine anyway. I guess it was worth a try. But why don't you learn from my mistake/experiment and save some money.

I’d just like to correct his term of ‘oxygen’ being forced down the throat. It is not oxygen, it is ambient room air,(which contains approx.20% oxygen) As a Home Respirator Manger, I would recommend that if you think you may have OSA (obstructive sleep apnea), make arrangements for a sleep study. Save your money from being wasted on gadgets like mouth appliances or other? devices.

MrCPAP canada: sleep apnea is always worse on the back due to tounge and throat tissue falling back to an already obstructed throat. ALso the addition of the weight on? the chest adds to a decrease in lung volume. You are spreading dangerous advice. Positional therapy (avoidance of supine) is only adequate treatment for some sleep apnea patients. OSA is a potentially life threatening condition. If someone has treatments doubts, see an MD not a youtube feed.

This worked for me, I have positional apne and only snore when I’m on my back. I think you should do your own? home study with a video camera. First video tape yourself while sleeping on your back. Thern video tape yourself while sleeping with a backpack on with phone books in it while aleeping on your side. If you see good results of sleeping on your side then this product will work for you. Like my title says, this is the best book around on sleep apnea. The authors do a superb job of describing the symptons and treatment of sleep apnea. They also dispel common misconceptions about sleep apnea- like "thin and young people can't have it"-something which, most dr.s still believe. Unfortunately, most dr.s are very ignorant about sleep disorders, and often, it's the last thing they check for.

My only problem(s) with this book are: that it doesn't elaborate on Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome, a close cousin to apnea and hypopnea; and while it states that UPPP surgery can eliminate snoring w/o treating the underlying apnea, it doesn't explicity state that it's possible (albeit admittedly less common) to have apnea w/o snoring in the first place. Finally, IMO, the authors should have stressed the importance of heated humidifiers in CPAP treatment (a breathing machine, which is the most common treatment for apnea).

This sounds like a lot of "complaints" but the overall excellence of the book doesn't keep me from giving it the 5-stars.

I am not a very successful CPAP user. I find this book easy for reading and technical material is converted to an interesting and well-organized book. The negative side is that it is too positive and optimistic, giving a wrong impression that CPAP is the ultimate panacea. If it can say more about the numerous and various problems that CPAP users encountered, and give more practical though not perfect advices, this book will be much better. Hope also it talks more about smart CPAP.

Although my dad was a champion snorer, I never suspected that I myself had inherited a tendency toward sleep apnea. However, I've got it (moderately), and Pascualy's book has been a big help in allowing me to navigate this new medical field in which I am now an unwilling participant.

Before I went to a sleep clinic for a formal test, I read this book. It prepared me for what was to come, which was not particularly pleasant, despite disclaimers which say that the procedure is painless and non-invasive. That largely was true, but the same might be said for most enemas, and they, too, are not particularly enjoyable.

I was prescribed a CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) device, and I currently am in the midst of trying to adjust to it. To be blunt, I loathe the thing. Were I not married, I doubt that I would have the willpower to try to solve my moderate problem which, though annoying (that is, a gnawing and nearly constant fatigue), is livable. But to please her (who has endured my snoring for years), and because she does have my best interests in mind, I will persist.

The three chapters on CPAPs in this book are essential for anyone who wishes to truly solve his/her sleep apnea problem with one. There is no chapter of the support group AWAKE in my area, so Pascualy's words of encouragement and wisdom on the subject have been transformative for me. If I succeed with a CPAP, it will be because I read this book and took it to heart. Otherwise, without question, I just wouldn't bother.

I am a high-school teacher, and I have at least three colleagues who have got sleep apnea and either are undiagnosed or are in the midst of trying to troubleshoot/solve the condition. When I mentioned my dilemma to my current classes, a substantial number of students had fathers who used a CPAP. I acknowledge that this truly is a widespread problem in America and that the CPAP doubtlessly is the best solution currently available.

Read this book if you, too, are a sufferer (or the spouse of one); but be prepared for a substantial period of adjustment to the CPAP and its "magic"!!

This is the best pillow for side sleeping.I have tried several other brands including memory foam. At first it felt a little high but it adjusted itself to conform to my head. The first one I bought was for my husband to help with his neck and shoulder pain. It did provide some relief. Another benefit is that his snoring has decreased by about 90%. I had gone with the average size first and ended up taking that one myself and replacing his with the larger size. It is important to chose the size that is right for your height.
Every time my adult children visit my pillow disappears for the duration of the visit. I am buying several for Christmas this year. It's pricey for a pillow but is a unique design and worth the price for the exceptional comfort. I gave it 4 stars because it had a chemical smell that took a week to wear off. To be fair I should add that not everyone noticed the smell but it bothered me.

Like many who will buy this or something similar, I was skeptical at first. I tried nasal sprays, pills, and those hard plastic adhesive strips that are supposed to hold your nostrils open. None of these really worked for me. And the glue on the strips were so strong it was actually painful to remove them in the morning. I was to the point of exploring surgery thinking I might have a deviated septum causing my snoring. So trying this was kind of a last-resort thing. I am glad I did. And my wife is really glad I did. I no longer have to sleep in the guest bedroom!

The principle is that this mouthpiece holds your lower jaw slightly farther out than it would normally be. It barely moves your jaw so I was still skeptical that it would have any effect. But this thing stopped my snoring the first night. I don't mean it reduced it by 80 or 90%, but it stopped my snoring completely. Of course, I don't think my snoring was as bad as my wife made it out to be, but I've been using it for two months now and she says my snoring hasn't woken her up a single time.

A note on the instructions. Mine said to put in boiling water for 10 seconds, wait three seconds and then fit it in your mouth. Maybe my boiling water wasn't as hot as some, but I had to repeat it and keep it in the boiling water for about 20 seconds. The second time gave me a nice fit.

A note on jaw soreness. Some people have reported that it makes their jaw sore for the first week or so. For me, it never made mine sore at all. Granted, it did feel a little strange, but by the third night I was completely used to it. Take that for what it's worth - I guess it may cause slight initial soreness for some, but not everybody.

This thing does remind me of the old mouthpieces used for playing football, and it is a fairly soft rubber, but I can see it lasting 6-9 months before needing replacing. And at this price, it's costing me about two bucks a month to keep my snoring away. I'll probably be ordering another one soon just to have the replacement ready.

Note: this is the second review I've written for this item. If it sounds like I'm a shill for the company, I promise I'm not. It's just that this thing has worked wonders for me and if this review will allow someone else to benefit from it the way I have, it's worth a few minutes of my time.

My husband is a very loud snorer, it sounds like it's coming from deep within his nostrils. He uses this in conjunction with generic vapor rub (for the menthol) and a generic nose strip. He says it's comfortable, although they have popped out a few times during the night and are kind of hard to find. The silicone is really soft and cleans easily with some soapy water. My husband is whiny about anything remotely uncomfortable, and he likes this. There comes two in a pack with a little storage box. For the price, it can't hurt to try.

My wife bought this for me on the spur-of-the-moment, after we saw a short commercial online about it. I've tried the mouthpiece that pulls your lower jaw out, but my jaw was so sore after a few days I had to give it up. It was like a torture device. Plus, it left my mouth dry from being open all night. So I tried this. The moment I put it in at night, I can breath so much easier! My wife says that most of the time, I don't snore any more. I can tell because I wake up feeling so much more rested. I have also tried the external nasal adhesive strips, which work to some extent to pull your nasal passages open. But I don't like that they are single-use. You have to keep spending money and throwing them away. Plus, it's somewhat painful peeling them off your skin every morning. I prefer these internal ones much more! They're soft and comfortable, and a quick wash each morning leaves it clean for the next night. I love it!
